Billy Reid Designs for Tie The Knot

TIE THE KNOT launched a limited edition bow tie designed by CFDA award-winning fashion designer Billy Reid. All proceeds from the sale of the bow tie will benefit the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and the work they are accomplishing to advance LGBTQ equality in the American south.

On September 30, TIE THE KNOT and Billy Reid joined Chad Griffin, president of HRC, and Alabama State Representative Patricia Todd, the first ever openly gay elected official in Alabama, to celebrate the launch of the partnership at the Billy Reid storefront in Georgetown, D.C.

HRC launched Project One America in 2014 - a comprehensive campaign to dramatically expand LGBT equality in the South through permanent campaigns in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. This substantial and lasting initiative—with a three-year budget of $8.5 million and a dedicated staff of 20 - is the largest coordinated campaign for LGBT equality in the history of the South.

Josh Hutcherson Designs for Tie The Knot

Josh Hutcherson isn't just one of our favorite film stars from The Hunger Games. He is also an LGBT ally who has been fighting for equality for quite some time.

As part of JESSE TYLER FERGUSON's TIE THE KNOT fall/winter collection of bow ties, Josh Hutcherson designed his own bow tie in support of his organization - Straight But Not Narrow - a not-for-profit primarily focused on straight youth & young adults, which strives to positively influence the perception of, and behavior toward, their LGBT peers.

“Straight But Not Narrow has always been about allowing people to be whoever they are. It’s about letting people know it’s okay to be yourself and you should actively support others to do the same.” said Josh Hutcherson.

“We created our SBNN bow tie with Tie The Knot to help raise awareness and funds to keep our efforts moving forward. Rocking this tie means you are letting people around you know that you support them and their pursuit to become the best person they can be.”

National Arts in Education Week

Theres no question about it: expanding arts education programs and integrating creativity into the classroom means students perform better, stay in school longer, and are better prepared for success.

This week is the 5th annual National Arts in Education Week. This great celebration was adopted by the United States Congress in 2010 to raise awareness of the importance of arts education and to support equitable access to the arts for all students.

We are proud to work with influencers like JESSE TYLER FERGUSON and JASON MRAZ who are committed to incorporating arts education in the classroom via their ambassadorships with the TURNAROUND ARTS INITIATIVE

Complimenting school curriculum with arts education not only yields academic success, but also improves the lives of students outside of the classroom. Students in arts programs are more likely to be involved with volunteer and community organizations and also are more accepting of diverse friend groups.

It's a no-brainer: arts education is integral for a better future. Happy National Arts in Education Week!

Thread Experiment Donates to the LA LGBT Youth Center

On Friday, we were fortunate to accompany our client, THREAD EXPERIMENT, to the Los Angeles LGBT Youth Center in Hollywood to donate new bedding sheets for their emergency housing program. The LA LGBT Youth Center was chosen as the inaugural recipient of new bedding as part of THREAD EXPERIMENT's one-for-one program.

The Los Angeles LGBT Youth Center is just one of the many great facilities and programs operated by the LA LGBT Center. Whether you’re one of the thousands of young lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) people in L.A. without a home, or you’re under the age of 25 and looking for some guidance, a social network and support as you reach for your dreams, the LA LGBT Center can help.
